Bayern Munich outclassed Borussia Dortmund at the Allianz Arena thanks to a pair of braces from Thomas Müller and red-hot Robert Lewandowski and a strike from Mario Götze. The result leaves the three-time defending Bundesliga champions ominously perched seven points clear at the top of the table.
Müller broke the deadlock after 26 minutes with a fantastic effort, latching on to a pass over the top, lifting the ball over advancing Dortmund goalie Roman Burki and then firing home with his left foot.
After the German had made it 2-0 with a controversially awarded penalty, the visitors briefly threatened a comeback. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang reduced the arrears on 36 minutes, slotting home at the far post following a fine move, and it was 2-1 heading into half-time.
A quarter of an hour into the second half, however, Lewandowski had settled the contest. After making it 3-1 with a scruffy goal just after the restart, the lethal Pole further extended Pep Guardiola's side's advantage in the 57th minute with a well-taken left-footed finish. Götze rounded off the rout shortly after the hour mark.
Despite being on the wrong end of a drubbing, Dortmund remain second because Schalke lost at home to Cologne.
